Saulo Manuel Colon Zavala

Department: Social Sciences

Institution: Central Connecticut State University

Position: student.

Research: I am a student of sociology and history with a concentration in Puerto Rican studies. Unfortunately, I have taken too many political science classes and find myself unsure of my major. It is a shame we cannot study just for the sake of knowledge. I want to be a junior high school teacher as well as a counselor. I have aspirations of being a professor too. I am deeply interested in the Puerto Rican Diaspora as well as identity issues. Are the Boricuas de aca just as "Puerto Rican" as those from la isla?

Publications: In the U.S I am a member of the Latin American Student Org. In Puerto Rico I am a member of the Federacion Universitario Pro Independencia. I have been a counselor for emotionally disturbed youth in various residential programs, as well as a community organizer.

Other: For the last five years I have been involved in the campaign to free the 16 Puerto Rican Political Prisoners.
