Position: Second year graduate student
Research: I am currently conducting research for my master's thesis. The topic is vague at this point, however, I am hoping to focus on Mexican American representation and California politics. Questions I am considering include: What are Mexican American interests? Can non-Mexican Americans accurately represent those interests in the California Senate and Assembly? Do these representatives perceive Mexican American interests as separate from their district's general population? I am using Carol Swain's Black Faces, Black Interests as the guideline for what I hope to accomplish. I would appreciate any feedback or questions.
