Institution: Edison Elementary School
Position: Computer Coordinator
Research: My interest revolve around navigating the Web, writing fiction and poetry, and working with children. I spend a good amount of time browsing through the many interesting gopher and web sites on the internet. Particularly those that deal with Latino/a issues and resources. I also enjoy reading and writing. One of my favorite past times is writing poetry and short fiction. I am the former editor in chief of Nuestra Voz Newsletter, a bilingual newsletter that is published by the Santa Monica College Latino Center. I was also a student editor and contributor to a student literary anthology by the name of Reflections: an anthology of poetry, short fiction, and critical essays. I'm currently earning a B.A. in education from Cal State University Dominguez Hills and working as a part- time computer coordinator at Edison Elementary School. Edison is a Spanish Immersion School with a 60%+ Latino population (for more inf. on school statistics and curriculum, please e-mail me at Elu@earthlink.net). As computer coordinator I do computer in services for the staff; I assist students with various language arts, math, and social science computer applications; and maintain running about 24 Macintoshes, 25 IBM PC's, and 28 Apple IIE computers. My latest project involves getting students online with other students.
